  • Raqib Shaw: Ballads of East & West at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston | Daily – Just a few weeks remain to immerse yourself within the luminous paintings of Raqib Shaw, which pulls Eastern and Western influences to merge fable, history and autobiography. Free on Thursday; $24 other days. Times vary.
  • Comedian Dusty Slay at Houston Improv | Daily – Observational, blue-collar humor is par for the night with this Nashville native, who’s appeared on the talk show circuit and recently dropped his first Netflix special, Workin’ Man. $100 for 4. Times vary.
  • Stages presents Miss Rhythm: The Legend of Ruth Brown at the Gordy | Daily – Spend the evening with the trailblazing Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and icon, who ran the world of R&B and was catapulted to global fame in the 1950s. $64 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • Comedian Nathan Macintosh at The Riot Comedy Club | Friday & Saturday – Featured on spots across the late night circuit, the touring comic arrives in Montrose for back-to-back nights. $20 and up. 7pm and 9pm.
  • Houston Astros vs. Chicago White Sox at Minute Maid Park | Friday to Sunday – It’s an Astros Hall of Fame weekend, so arrive early for huge giveaways like a Jose Altuve replica jersey, a commemorative Altuve bobblehead, and a retro Astros duffle bag. $20 and up. Times vary.
  • Dirt Dogs Unleashed presents Frenzy at MATCH | Friday to Sunday  This world premiere tells of the story of Rebecca, who is leading the multi-million-dollar acquisition of her sister’s firm when things go awry. $30. 8pm.
  • Malibu Barbie Cafe at JunctionHTX Beer Garden | Friday to Sunday | Ongoing – Master Chef finalist and Chopped Champion Chef Becky Brown crafts a fast casual menu for a Barbiecore dining experience, with curated cocktails like the Think Pink Margarita. $25 and up for a 90-minute reservation. 10am to 9pm.
  • Mega Adoption Event at George R. Brown Convention Center | Saturday & Sunday – More than 1,000 dogs and cats, from puppies and kittens to senior animals, will be available for adoption at this fourth annual supersized event in Downtown. Adoption fees are just $35 and you’ll take them home the same day. All animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations. 10am to 5pm.
