The new Rice Village location for Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams is now open.

The details

After opening locations in Montrose, the Heights and Memorial City, shop officials held a grand opening event June 4 for the fourth Greater Houston location on Morningside Drive and offered free ice cream scoops, Communications Representative Liv Messineo said.

Three new flavors that are part of the ice cream shop's summer collection were available at the grand opening event, according to Messineo, including:

Pink bubblegum
Toasted s'mores
Root beer float

What's on the menu

The chain offers artisanal ice creams from founder and James Beard award recipient Jeni Britton Bauer. Many of the store's ice creams, frozen yogurts, sorbets and toppings are gluten-free, according to the store's website.

Flavors include brambleberry crisp and salty caramel; burnt orange dreamsicle; double dough chocolate chip cookie dough; and frose sorbet, which is a sangria-style frozen rose flavor.
